  • DAY 1 - 2

    Destination: Nairobi

    Situated along the Nairobi River in beautiful Kenya, the capital of Nairobi is East Africa's most cosmopolitan city. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safari trips around Kenya. Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place to be. There are some fascinating attractions: its cafe culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum and most notably, just 20 minutes from the city centre, wild lions and buffalo roam in the world’s only urban game reserve. Make sure you pay a visit to the elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for a once in a lifetime experience.

    Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be transferred to your accommodation in Nairobi.  This thriving metropolis is world famous.  The cool climate made this site the ideal place for the colonial railway depot and later became the colonial capital in 1907.  Today Nairobi is one of the most important business and banking hubs in all of Africa, yet it has kept the "out of Africa" charm.  Depending on your time of arrival, a variety of additional activities can be organised.     Day 2

    Day Notes
    After a scrumptious breakfast, we start the day off with a Nairobi City tour.  Our first stop is the Kazuri Bead Factory, a social enterprise established in 1975 as a project to assist single mothers make a living.  Today more than 300 women work at the factory creating a variety of bead work and pottery.  After our tour of the Bead Factory we then head to the Giraffe Centre, where you can learn about the endangered Rothschild Giraffe and experience an up close and personal encounter.  After lunch we then head to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage for a special behind the scenes,foster parent visit where we get to meet the young orphaned elephants as they come in from the day.  After the elephants retire we return back to our accommodation for the evening.   • DAY 1 - 2

    Destination: Ol Pejeta Conservancy

    Resting at the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountain Range, in central Kenya's Laikipia County, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. It is also home to some of the last remaining northern white rhino in the world. Originally a working cattle ranch in colonial Kenya and now a pioneering wildlife conservancy, Ol Pejeta works to protect wildlife and provide a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. The Conservancy is a popular safari destination and is home to the renowned ‘Big Five’ as well as a wide selection of other African animals including zebra, giraffe, hippo, cheetah, jackal, serval, hyena, vervet monkey, and many more. Visitors can look forward to an assortment of outdoor activities such as horse rides, game walks, and nocturnal game drives.

    Destination: Amboseli National Park

    Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Maasai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya's most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snowcap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok. The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

    Description
    Kibo Safari Camp is a luxury tented camp situated in Amboseli National Park in Kenya at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.     Enjoy a hearty breakfast and meet your guide and the rest of the group at reception for your pre-departure meeting at 08h00. Kindly ensure you are packed and checked out prior to your pre-departure meeting as you will depart shortly after this. The day starts with a morning game drive in Narobi National Park. We then make our way to the Daphne Sheldrick Animal Orphanage for a visit. The institution is named after the wife of the late famous Naturalist, David William Sheldrick who was the founder warden of Tsavo East National Park in Kenya from its inception in 1948 to 1976. The baby animals are are transported from the national park to the orphanage for a mud bath, and you’ll have the opportunity to spend an hour with them. Lunchwill follow before driving down to Amboseli National Reserve, arriving in the afternoon. Overnight at Kibo Safari Camp on full board  basis (FB)

    Day 3

    Day Notes
    Today we will head into the Amboseli National Park for a full day of game viewing in one of Kenya’s most famous parks. Amboseli is known for its huge elephant bulls with their magnificent tusks, which make for the ultimate safari in Kenya.   • DAY 5 - 6

    Destination: Arusha

    Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. Arusha is a good spot to take a day or two off from the safari circuit as it features a temperate climate and lush surrounds. Visitors can look forward to exploring the wildlife-abundant Serengeti National Park; the magnificent Arusha National Park; and taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest mountain.

  • DAY 5 - 6

    Destination: Tarangire National Park

    Tarangire National Park, situated within Tanzania’s spectacular Manyara Region, is an awe-inspiring national park comprising of granite ridges, river valleys, mixed vegetative landscapes, and free-roaming wildlife. During the annual dry season, the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland gather and not surprisingly the predators follow. With lion being among the most commonly spotted animal, it is a rare day that a visitor does not spot this majestic animal prowling or grazing. Tarangire is also the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as oryx and gerenuk are seen regularly. This expansive area is also known for its spectacular baobab trees, its breathtaking views of the Masaai Steppe and the wondrous mountains to the south.

The breath-taking views of the Masai Steppe, and the mountains to the south, make this safari to Tarangire a truly memorable experience. It forms the centre of an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3000 elephant, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebra that Tanzania is famous for.     Destination: Karatu

    Travelers heading for the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater will pass through the town of Karatu in the green hills of Tanzania’s northern highlands. Presided over by the towering Ol Deani Volcano, this small, colourful town serves as a popular overnight stop for visitors exploring the area’s many game parks. The town offers a variety of activities including browsing the bustling marketplace, sampling beer at a local brewery, visiting a traditional homestead, or taking a guided walk through the Ngorongoro Forest in search of waterfalls and caves. Whether you are looking for cultural tours, hiking and biking opportunities, a chance to enjoy an authentic rural Tanzania experience, or simply a break between safari game drives, this underrated town has plenty to offer.

    Accommodation: Karatu Simba Lodge

    Description
    Karatu Simba Lodge offers a slice of life only to be found in rural Tanzania. Located about a thirty-minute drive from the gate of Lake Manyara National Park, approximately four kilometres off the main road to the entry of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the lodge is situated next to the Ngorongoro Forest. Accommodation is in individual twin, double or triple cottages or rondavels with canvas walls and solid attached bathroom and shower, tastefully and simply decorated with hand made furniture of African hardwood.     Day 7

    Day Notes
    After breakfast, we set out to experience the cultural diversity of Mto-wa-Mbu, starting at the market and visiting a Chagga family producing banana beer and passing by many different farms. On the way, your guide will introduce you to the various fruits and vegetables growing in the area and explain the irrigation system that sustains local crops. After having a delicious, home-cooked meal in a traditional homestead, we enjoy a visit to a Maasai Boma for the cultural encounter of a lifetime. The Maasai people are semi-nomadic herders, who choose to live a traditional lifestyle and are known for their distinctive traditional attire. In the late afternoon, we embark on a walking tour to Lake Papyrus. Here clients can view this magnificent lake filled with abundant birdlife and hippos. If time allows we can do some light trekking up to the waterfall. From here you will view the lake on top of the Rift valley wall; then onto the banana plantation and rice fields, ending off the tour with a local village visit.   • DAY 8 - 11

    Destination: Seronera

    The Seronera region, in the central Serengeti, is set directly on the Great Migration route and offers excellent viewing of this incredible annual phenomenon, when countless wildebeest flood the area and move across the plains. While migratory game populations fluctuate seasonally, Seronera is still a wildlife hotspot at other times of the year, sheltering the Big Five, among many other species. A number of small campsites provide accommodation and visitors can enjoy hot air balloon trips and walking safaris as well as guided game drives.

  • DAY 8 - 11

    Accommodation: Kenzan Tented Camp

    Description
    Centrally located in the iconic Serengeti National Park, Kenzan Tented Camp offers a tranquil and peaceful experience, set among nature and wildlife. The campsite is home to luxury tents, all equipped with the comforts of home, as well as an en-suite facility. Guests can start the day with a delicious buffet breakfast, while other meals are served at the tented onsite restaurant. Guests can look forward to daily game drives, walking safaris, a private candlelit dinner in the bush and a chance to view the great Wildebeest migration while at the camp.

    This morning we have an early departure for a game drive in the world renowned Ngorongoro Crater. For many, this wildlife spectacle is the pinnacle of their Africa safari experience. The Ngorongoro Crater boasts all of the ‘Big 5’, including a small population of endangered black rhino. After a picnic lunch, we head towards the Serengeti through the stunning Southern Plains. This is the area that the Serengeti is best known for – the endless, undulating grass savannah with rocky outcrops that serve as isolated wildlife refuges.     Day Notes
    Today you will spend a full day game driving around the Seronera area of the Serengeti. The Serengeti is divided into three main areas. Seronera is the most central and accessible region and this is where the Park head quarters is based, as well as most of the larger lodges and communal campsites. This part of the Serengeti is characterised by open plains of grassland, packed with animals. The Seronera River is the lifeblood of the Serengeti and this area is renowned for great game viewing all year round. It is also particularly good for lion and cheetah sightings, as well as the most elusive of all big cats, the leopard. Overnight at Kenzan Tented Camp on full board  basis (FB)

    Day Notes
    We have another exciting day of exploring the Serengeti National Park ahead of us. With lunch boxes provided we continue with game drives throughout the afternoon, scanning the endless plains, spotting many animals and truly realizing just why this national park is so famous.   • DAY 11 - 12

    Destination: Lake Victoria, Tanzania

    The massive 6.5 million-hectare Lake Victoria is three times the size of Wales and is shared by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Known as one of Africa’s ‘Great Lakes', it is world-renowned as the source of the Nile and is Africa’s largest lake. Its waters are rich in fish life with shimmering shoals of colorful cichlids and large Nile Perch, sought after by fishermen. The lake boasts an impressive 3440 kilometre stretch of shoreline and is dotted with over 3000 inhabited islets. Visitors can look forward to a variety of activities including excellent fishing; wildlife viewing; and boating, among others. Make sure to visit Ukerewe, the lake's largest island, and enjoy the picturesque island beaches and spectacular scenery.

    Accommodation: Serenity on the Lake Resort

    Description
    Serenity on the Lake Resort is located on the Lake Shores of Lake Victoria, 20 kilometres outside the Serengeti National Park. Accommodation consists of bungalows and suites, each equipped with a safety deposit box and an en-suite bathroom. The suites feature fully equipped kitchens. Guests can enjoy dining at the on-site restaurant. Other amenities offered are internet access, a swimming pool, a lounge bar and a spa.

    After breakfast we make our way to Lake Victoria. We pass through the villages of the Sukuma tribe, who grow ground nuts, sorghum and cassava as well as keeping livestock. Life carries on here simply as it has done for ages, but with a few poignant reminders of the 20th century. Some leisure time in the afternoon, or to possibly take a bird-viewing walk along the lake shore. Overnight at Serenity on the Lake Resort on full board  basis (FB)

  • DAY 12 - 14

    Destination: Masai Mara National Reserve

    One of Kenya’s undisputed natural highlights is the Masai Mara National Reserve, which sprawls across more than 1500 square kilometres of the country’s southwest. The park protects a phenomenal array of game, including elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo, as well as crocodile and hippopotamus in the Mara River. The birdlife is no less impressive, with over 450 resident bird species. However, the true highlight here is the Great Migration, recognised as one of the Seven New Wonders of the World. To survive the dry months of July to September, some 1.7 million wildebeest, migrate from the parched plains of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Along with much smaller numbers of antelope, buffalo and zebra, they move to the more forgiving grasslands of the Masai Mara. In their wake come predators such as lion, hyena and cheetah, for whom these giant herds are an easy source of prey.

    Today we spend the whole day game viewing in the world famous Masai Mara National Park. Here the various habitats are home to a great variety of game including lion, leopard, cheetah, zebra, wildebeest (gnu), giraffe, buffalo, jackal, topi, gazelle, impala and elephant.     After breakfast we head off towards Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. We visit the GiraffeCentre and Karen Blixen Museum. The museum is the beautiful and historic farmhouse where Karen Blixen, author of “Out of Africa”, lived between 1917 and 1931 until she left Kenya after a series of personal tragedies. In the late afternoon arrive at your hotel. If time allows, we visit the Kazuri Beads Centre and workshop for those interested in shopping. Kazuri means “small and beautiful” in Swahili and it describes each striking ceramic bead which is shaped by hand by the women employed at the Kazuri workshop. Nairobi is a cosmopolitan, lively and interesting city. Its central business district is nicely compact and it is therefore a great place to tune into modern urban African life.
