  • DAY 1 - 2

    Destination: Maun

    Set on the banks of the beautiful Thamalakane River in northern Botswana, Maun is the third-largest town in this spectacularly scenic southern African country. Maun is the starting point for most expeditions into the Okavango Delta and as a result, has developed into a bustling metropolis that is considered Botswana’s tourism capital. Area attractions include a renowned riverboat that offers cruises up and down the Thamalakane River; the forest groves of the Maun Game Reserve; and Moremi Game Reserve, home to hippos, lions and rhinos. Maun also serves as the jumping-off point for many safaris and air charters as well as offering private 4x4 rentals. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Nhabe Museum exhibiting the local history, art and culture of the Ngamiland region.

    Description
    Thamalakane River Lodge is ideally located an easy 20-minute drive from Maun Airport en route to the famous Moremi Game Reserve. It is a secluded haven of tranquility nestled in a grove of mature riverine trees on the bank of the Thamalakane River. The rambling lodge has an idyllic setting and is committed to service excellence. Character en-suite stone chalets, are positioned in the shade of the riverine forest, overlooking the river.     Day Notes
    On arrival into Maun International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your lodge. Thamalakane River Lodge is located on the banks for the Thamalakane River outside of Maun en route to the famous Okavango Delta. The rest of the afternoon may be spent at leisure enjoying one of the many activities available at the Lodge. This evening you will meet your guide and the rest of your group at the lodge at 18h00 for your pre-departure meeting. Accommodation:  Thamalakane River Lodge or similar (rooms with en-suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar & restaurant).

  • DAY 2 - 4

    Destination: Guma Lagoon

    Guma Lagoon is found in the northern reaches of Botswana. This wonderful retreat on the banks of the Okavango River is a dream destination for animal lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, providing a range of sights and activities. Not only can visitors enjoy premium bird watching with over 200 native species and freshwater fishing opportunities, both spin and fly-fishing; but Guma Lagoon is also a fantastic base for self-guided game drives and traditional dug-out canoe (mokoro) tours, which allow you to navigate the palm islands and waterlily beds of the scenic Okavango. Other key activities include bush walks, forest trails and stargazing. Finally, note that accommodation is provided exclusively through Guma Lagoon Camp – and so advance booking, particularly for the self-catering units, is highly recommended.

  • DAY 2 - 4

    Destination: Amboseli National Park

    Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Maasai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya's most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snowcap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok. The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

    Accommodation: Guma Lagoon Camp

    Description
    Guma Lagoon Camp is situated along the banks of the Guma Lagoon on the northwestern side of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. The campsite is truly a fisherman's paradise and bird watchers' haven. Accommodation options include self-catering tents and canvas chalets. Guests can also enjoy spin or fly-fishing at the lagoon. Some fish species include Barbel, African Pike, Redbreast Tilapia, Threespot Tilapia, Green-headed Tilapia, and Purple Largemouth.

    Day Notes
    This morning after breakfast we head to Etsha 13, on the western border of the Okavango Delta. Unlike other deltas, it flows into the Kalahari Desert without reaching the coast, which makes it unique. The next day is spent exploring the network of water pathways through thick vegetation in mokoros (traditional dugout canoes), discovering a variety of birds and wildlife. We have the opportunity to stop at a secluded island to take a 11⁄2 hour guided walk hoping to spot elephants, waterbuck or other animals living in this water filled paradise. Accomodation: Guma Lagoon Camp or similar (rooms with en-suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar & restaurant) on DBB basis.

  • DAY 4 - 7

    Destination: Moremi Game Reserve

    Situated in the east of the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve ranks as one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa. It covers more than 4871 square kilometres of pristine wilderness, and this varied terrain includes savannah, winding waterways, and dense forest. The diverse ecosystem supports an incredibly wide spectrum of wildlife, ranging from large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra, to the rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope, lion, cheetah and packs of wild dog in the open grasslands. The birdlife is prolific and includes most of the 550 bird species recorded on Botswana’s national bird list. A range of luxury lodges in the reserve offers visitors the perfect base to experience this corner of paradise.

    Day 4

    MANKWE ADVENTURE CAMP • MOREMI GAME RESERVE
    Day Notes
    After breakfast we head south travelling via Maun to Mankwe Adventure Camp, situated on a private concession on the doorstep of the Moremi Game Reserve. The Reserve is renowned for its concentration of mammals and it is not unusual to see many different types of wildlife during just one game drive. Game viewing is seasonal; depending on the time of the year you may see different species in different areas. The best time for game viewing is the end of the dry season or spring from August to November. During this season, in order for us to offer the best game viewing possible, extra driving may be required due to the animals migrating closer to the river. In the summer, birdlife can also be viewed in abundance with exceptional sightings of wildfowl and raptors.     Day Notes
    We have the opportunity to spend the day on game drives. In our open 4x4 vehicle we will explore the Greater Moremi area on morning and afternoon game drives hopefully spotting a variety of game that frequent this region. After dinner your guide will take you on a night drive, and you will hopefully be able to spot some rare nocturnal animals. Accommodation: Mankwe Adventure Camp or similar (Meru-style canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms) on DBB basis.

    Day 6

    Day Notes
    Today we head into the famous Moremi Game Reserve known as one of the most beautiful and varied reserves in Africa with an unprecedented concentration of wildlife. The full day is spent in the unspoiled nature of the Moremi Game Reserve. Accommodation: Mankwe Adventure Camp or similar (Meru-style canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms) on DBB basis.

  • DAY 7 - 8

    Destination: Nata

    Situated 180 kilometres north of Francistown, the small village of Nata is a popular stopover between Maun and Kasane along the ‘game drive route’ (there is often a chance to catch a glimpse of wildlife along the way). The unique surrounding landscapes feature white sand, tall termite mounds, and Mokolwane palm trees. The Nata Sanctuary is a particular highlight for avid bird watchers, where lucky visitors can be rewarded with large flocks of Flamingos and Pelicans, which breed here each year. The town is also a perfect base for exploring the legendary and spectacular Makgadikgadi Pans, where quad biking and four-wheel-drive tours can be enjoyed.

  • DAY 7 - 8

    Accommodation: Nata Lodge

    Day Notes
    After breakfast, you will be collected from you hotel in Arusha and set off towards Tarangire National Park for a full day’s game drive. The breath-taking views of the Masai Steppe, and the mountains to the south, make this safari to Tarangire a truly memorable experience. Tarangire is as well known for its huge elephant population as it is for the striking baobab trees. It forms the centre of an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3000 elephant, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebra that Tanzania is famous for.     Day Notes
    Leaving the bush behind us, we travel east towards the Makgadikgadi Pans, once a large river fed lake which has become saline and empty. This area incorporates a multitude of salt pans and vast grass plains dotted by palm islands and forms the Great Makgadikgadi which comprises the largest area of salt pans in the world, covering some 37,000 square km overall. We arrive at our lodge in the late afternoon. Accommodation: Nata Lodge or similar (permanent safari tents with en-suite bathrooms, swimming pool & bar) on DBB basis.

  • DAY 8 - 10

    Destination: Kasane

    Tucked away in the northeastern corner of Botswana, on the banks of the famous Chobe River, the scenic little town of Kasane rests on the doorstep of the spectacular Chobe National Park. There are no boundary fences separating the village from the park and game such as elephant and hippo are often spotted roaming around the town. If on the lookout for elusive game, pay a visit to the Sedudu Valley Road, where large dead trees provide temporary homes for leopards. Within Kasane, an ancient baobab tree stands on display, once serving as a local prison. Visitors can look forward to a multitude of activities including: enjoying a game drive through the park, taking a sunset cruise down the Chobe River, visiting a local village or jumping on a day trip to the breathtaking Victoria Falls.

  • DAY 8 - 10

    Accommodation: Chobe Safari Lodge

    Description
    Chobe Safari Lodge is situated in Kasane on the banks of the Chobe River and shares a border with Chobe National Park. Right on the doorstep is the meeting of four African countries: Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Chobe Safari Lodge therefore offers an excellent getaway location to Chobe, Victoria Falls or Caprivi. The close proximity to Victoria Falls International Airport, Livingstone International Airport and Kasane International Airport makes it easily accessible, with daily road transfers or charter flights connecting all these airports with Chobe Safari Lodge. The lodge has been recently renovated; matching a magical lodge experience to the spectacular game viewing.

    Day 8 - 9

    CHOBE SAFARI LODGE • KASANE
    Day Notes
    We head off to Nata Bird Sanctuary in the morning, which offers us the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent view over the Sowa pan, which is part of the Greater Makgadikgadi Pans (please note a visit to the pans is subject to the road conditions and water levels as well as time constraints). After breakfast, we continue our journey north to Kasane, the gateway to the Chobe National Park. Chobe, which is the second largest national park in Botswana and covers 10,566 square km, has one of the greatest concentrations of elephant found on the African continent. The afternoon is at leisure to partake in optional activities or to relax by the pool. Start your morning of day 9 with a hopefully spectacular game drive in Chobe National Park. You will return to the lodge for a late breakfast and relaxation until our boat cruise on the Chobe River starts around 3pm. Here we can watch elephants, hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birds, making for excellent up close photo opportunities.   • DAY 10 - 13

    Destination: Hwange National Park

    Situated in western Zimbabwe, the Hwange National Park is the country's biggest reserve, home to a profusion of wildlife, including giraffe, lion, zebra and approximately 40 000 elephants. It provides a sanctuary for all the country’s endangered species, including a population of wild dogs thought to be among the most sizeable surviving groups on the continent. The park’s magnificent terrain ranges from desert dunes, savannah lands and mopane woodlands to rocky outcrops and sparse forests. Visitors can look forward to game drives, guided walks or horse riding safaris. Other highlights include: the Bumbusi National Monument and the Nyamandhlovu Pan.

    Today, we make our way into Zimbabwe to Nantwich Lodge, situated in the northwest corner of Hwange National Park, the largest national park in Zimbabwe, covering an area of approx. 14 650 km2. Named after a local chief, Hwange is situated in the northwest corner of the country about one hour south of the Victoria Falls. Due to its close proximity to the Falls, Hwange boasts an incredible biodiversity of flora and fauna, and a plethora of African wildlife. There are over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species recorded here. Upon your arrival, you'll have the opportunity to partake in an afternoon game drive, allowing you to immediately immerse yourself in the rich wildlife experience this pristine location has to offer. The following day, is spent on a full day game drive where you will discover a variety of animals, including some predators among them. In the evening, you will be able to enjoy a night game drive, offering a unique opportunity to witness the fascinating nocturnal wildlife in their natural habitat. This morning, you will embark on a walking safari, immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of the African wilderness. In the afternoon, you'll have the chance to extend your quest for African wildlife on an exciting game drive.     Destination: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe

    Victoria Falls is one of the world’s most impressive waterfalls. It is set on the magnificent Zambezi River which creates the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. These spectacular falls can be easily visited and viewed from the Zimbabwean side. Considered to be the world’s widest waterfalls, Victoria Falls measures an impressive 1708 metres in width. The small town of Victoria Falls, which lies adjacent to the waterfalls, serves as a great base from which to explore the many attractions this area of Zimbabwe has to offer. The surrounding area provides a wide range of adrenalin-filled activities for adventure lovers. Visitors can look forward to an array of wonderful activities including: scenic flights, micro lighting, white water rafting, bungee jumping, kayaking, and once-in-a-lifetime expeditions into the incredible Chobe National Park.

    Shearwater Explorers Village is a lodge located in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, close to Victoria Falls and Curio Shops and Creature World.     Day Notes
    Today you will have at leisure to explore Victoria Falls, the town and all of its unique offerings, from adventure activities to cultural experiences. Your guide will take you on a tour of the mighty Victoria Falls, known by the local Kololo tribe as Mosi oa Tunya- “the Smoke that thunders”. In the afternoon we embark on a relaxing sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River. Accommodation: Shearwater Explorer Village or similar (rooms with en-suite bathrooms, swimming pool, bar & restaurant) on DBB basis.
